Ulcombe Primary School is part of the KULB Federation with Kingswood Primary School and Leeds & Broomfield Primary School. The pupils, parents, staff and governors of the KULB Federation will work together to raise aspirations, develop a strong community and value the diversity of each school, within out own beliefs. The KULB motto is 'Together we will achieve our goals'.
We are a small voluntary controlled Church of England Primary school for 4-11 year olds, located near Maidstone in Kent.
We have an excellent pupil to staff ratio. The smaller than average class sizes contribute to the very special ethos around the school. Our priority is not only to develop each child's academic ability but also to nurture healthy attitudes, through a creative and extended curriculum.
The school has excellent outside facilities. We are fortunate to have a large field, which is used for a range of sporting activities such as football, cricket, tag rugby, athletics and rounders. We believe in giving the children the opportunity to participate in a whole range of sporting activities during lunchtimes and after school, as well as part of the weekly curriculum. Health and fitness are high on our priorities and the school is currently involved in the Healthy Schools initiative.
A recent OfSTED report recognised that the school offers outstanding provision for extra-curricular activities. Visitors help to enhance the curriculum and offer opportunities to develop interests and knowledge of the world around us. We were also highly praised for helping the children to understand and make healthy options in terms of food and activity. Each classroom is spacious, well resourced and installed with the latest IT equipment, including Interactive Whiteboards.
Our teachers use teaching methods which help to engage the children and encourage active participation. The needs of all our children are met through work differentiated according to their ability and a high level of support from teachers and teaching assistants. The Governing Body help the school in establishing and working towards strategic plans. Our governors are from a range of backgrounds bringing their own skills, knowledge and life experiences to help our school.
Our PTA, the Friends of Ulcombe School, is very active in helping us develop the school. They raise money through exciting and enjoyable events. In recent times they have raised money for the wonderful Adventure Play Area as well as the playhouse in the outdoor learning area for our youngest children. To find out about their events and how they have helped the school, look in the News sections of this site.
